Usui Shiki Reiki Ryoho
Reiki (pronounced ‘ray-key’) is a Japanese word that translates as "Universal Life Force Energy".
Reiki (more correctly the Usui tradition of Natural Healing) is a natural holistic healing system, thought to be thousands of years old, that was originally developed by Tibetan monks. The founder of modern Reiki, Mikao Usui, is believed to have rediscovered the technique around the turn of the 20th century.
To help dispel any common misconceptions about Reiki – it is neither a religion, a cult, nor a belief system; there is no singing or chanting; there is no use of crystals or other implements.
It is simply a powerful and effective form of natural healing.
When a Reiki practitioner channels the energy through to the client, it activates the body's natural ability to heal itself. It does not conflict with traditional medical treatments but can facilitate and enhance them. It speeds the recovery process and can be a source of energy, comfort and pain relief during illness.
Reiki is normally carried out with the client lying down. There is no need to remove any clothing and you may be covered wth a blanket to ensure you stay warm throughout the treatment. The practitioner either holds their hands above, or places them very gently, in a series of positions on the body while acting as a conduit for the Reiki. The client’s system draws only as much Reiki as is needed. This may be felt as a flow of energy, mild tingling warmth, other sensations or nothing at all; although most people will at least feel a sense of deep relaxation and wellbeing.
