Sports Performance

Hypnosis has been used in sports for over 50 years. Although the Soviet Union Olympic squad of the 1950s is probably the earliest known use of hypnosis in sport, many top level teams and individual competitors have since tapped into this extremely powerful and legal means of giving them the 'edge' over their opponents. Well known sports stars who have utilised hypnosis for sports performance include:

Boxing: Ingmar Johannson, Ken Norton, Mohammad Ali, Nigel Benn, Steve Collins, Frank Bruno, Mike Tyson
Athletics: Roger Black, Iwan Thomas, Angela Bailey
Tennis: Jimmy Connors, Greg Rudedski
Golf: Tiger Woods, Nick Faldo, Ian Woosnam, Mary Lou Retton
Soccer: Andy Cole

Developing the mental side of your game is now widely considered to be a vital part of any athlete's training regime. Hypnosis harnesses the power of the subconscious mind to assist the athlete in enhancing mental stength, overcoming sports injuries, improving focus, easing pre-competition nerves, and enhancing performance in both training and competition.

Using hypnosis can improve your sports performance in numerous ways, including helping you to:

  • Focus on an upcoming match or performance & ignore distractions
  • Remain calm under pressure
  • Improve your skills
  • Reduce healing time of injuries - getting you back training faster
  • Improve your attitude and motivation
  • Re-frame memories of previous poor performance that now may be holding you back
  • Remove limiting behaviour or beliefs - eg. fear of competition, fear of failure, fear of success etc.
For the elite athlete, hypnosis can help you to realise your potential and train & perform at your peak.

'Off-field' or non-sporting issues such as insomnia, stress, or phobias can all hinder an athlete’s best efforts, and these can also be effectively dealt with using hypnotherapy.
